Eastern Lightning | Finding God Is True Happiness (Part 1)

Eastern Lightning | Finding God Is True Happiness (Part 1)

Wang Kai

My father is just an ordinary elementary school teacher, and during my childhood I lived with him in the dormitory that the school provides for its staff. We lived a simple and frugal life, as most people did in that era of hardships. The thing I remember most is playing with the other teachers’ kids in the school grounds after school. One of the kids was from a much wealthier family (his mother worked in the Bureau of Finance). Every day we played until it was almost dark and then he would make a bowl of instant noodles, take out a piece of fried donut, and eat it all with gusto. We other kids just stood by and looked on hungrily as the lovely smell wafted over and made us drool. Every time this happened, my frustrated stomach would rumble loudly, which always made me feel embarrassed and at a loss about what to do. At that time I resented the fact that I was from a poor household and that my father had no talents—he couldn’t even afford a packet of instant noodles…. I resented my father, but I also made a promise to myself that I was going to make a lot of money and have a lifestyle that others would envy. From that time on I had no interest in studying, and all I could think about was leaving school, getting a job and relying on my own hard work to improve my life. However, my father insisted that I go to senior high school but I was adamant about not wanting to study. I wanted to leave school and go out to work instead because I was sure that this was the only way that I would find happiness and prosperity quickly enough.

When the Lord Jesus Knocks at the Door, How Will We Answer

When the Lord Jesus Knocks at the Door, How Will We Answer

Xiao Fei

After I entered belief in the Lord, the brothers and sisters liked to sing a hymn called “The Good Man Is Knocking at the Door” which goes: “The good man is knocking at the door, His hair wet with dew; let us quickly rise and open the door, and not let the good man turn around and leave. …” Every time we sang this hymn, our hearts were deeply moved and stirred. We all want to ask the good man to stay the night, so when the good man comes and knocks at the door we will welcome the Lord the first time we hear the good man’s voice. It can be said that all of us who believe in the Lord have such a hope. But when the Lord comes, how will He knock? When the Lord knocks, what should we do to make sure we are welcoming Him as the Lord? This is something people who believe in the Lord should think about.

Eastern Lightning | Job’s Practice of Fearing God and Shunning Evil

Job’s Practice of Fearing God and Shunning Evil

I saw Job’s story in the Bible: When Job suffered great misfortunes of having his property and children taken away in one day (See Job 1:13-19), not only didn’t he issue complaints, but he spoke the archetypal words: “Jehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah” (Job 1:21). He stood witness and humiliated Satan in the trials. Finally, he received God’s approval and blessings and was called a person who feared God and shunned evil by God (See Job 42:12-17).

I often thought: During such great trials, why could Job stand witness, not complain, absolutely obey God and finally speak such words of wisdom? Thinking about myself in the real life, when my husband lost his job, my children got sick, we were needy or misfortunes befell my family, I would complain and couldn’t stand witness for God. Although I believed in God, my conduct during the trials fell far short of Job’s conduct. Then how should I seek to obey God and bear witness for Him like Job?

Christians’ Inner Voice: Do Believers in God Really Not Care About Their Families

Christians’ Inner Voice: Do Believers in God Really Not Care About Their Families

Mu Xinping(The wife of the minister of a municipal United Front Work Department): Oh, Yi, Rui, mom wants to talk to you about something. Mom also knows it is good to believe in God. It lets people take the right path. So, after you have believed in God, mom has been particularly relieved and no longer worried that you guys may go astray. But I see the government’s documents say, like some people who believe in Jesus, those who believe in Almighty God abandon their families in order to preach the gospel. Some people don’t even get married for a lifetime. The documents also say that the government wants to detain a group of people who believe in Almighty God and kill another group. Killing them means nothing. There is something else like “Troops won’t be withdrawn …” right, “until the ban is done.” Many believers of Almighty God were arrested, imprisoned, wounded and crippled by the CCP. Some people even lost their jobs and their families were ruined. This has drawn a lot of criticism that people who believe in God do not want their families. Yi, Rui, do you say this is true? I have to tell you, you can’t abandon your family or give up marriage. If this is how you really believe in God, mom advises you not to believe in Almighty God, okay?

What is the nature of the problem of man not knowing the significance of God’s name and not accepting God’s new name?

Why is God called by different names in different ages? What are the significances of God’s names?

Why is God called by different names in different ages? What are the significances of God’s names?

Relevant Words of God:

You should know that God originally had no name. He only took on one, or two, or many names because He had work to do and had to manage mankind. Whatever name He is called by—did He not freely choose it Himself? Would He need you—one of His creatures—to decide it? The name by which God is called is a name that accords with what man is capable of apprehending, with the language of mankind, but this name is not something that man can encompass.
